Washington, March 8 (NationPress) Shreyas Navare, an Indian cartoonist, has inaugurated a year-long, multi-city exhibition showcasing his watercolor caricatures of former presidents of the US as the nation gears up for the 250th anniversary of its independence on July 4, 2026.

Named “Hail to the Chiefs,” after a Scottish musical piece that has become a personal anthem for US presidents, the exhibition first launched in New York, where George Washington was inaugurated as the first president of the country. It is set to travel across all 50 states and the national capital, Washington DC.

“The United States, similar to my home country of India, has endured and continues to flourish through ongoing societal discussions, all in the everlasting search for a more perfect union,” said Navare, explaining his motivation for this series. “As the nation prepares to commemorate its 250th anniversary next year, I initiated this series to inspire dialogues and reflections on our shared humanity through the intertwined power of art, history, and humor.”

Navare also mentioned that the artworks aim to “capture the essence of the individuals who served as America’s early Commanders-in-Chief.” He expressed, “It brought me immense joy to delve into the lives of the Presidents—from the blue coat of George Washington to the blue eyes of John Adams, as I set out to portray these American visionaries through my artistic lens.”

Navare has been concentrating on US politics for some time. His earlier exhibition, titled America in Cartoons: From Bill to Biden, took place in 2022 and featured five US Presidents—Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, Barack Obama, Donald Trump, and Joe Biden. “Hail To The Chiefs! now expands upon this previous exhibition by celebrating the rich narrative of America through watercolor caricatures of all US Presidents,” he remarked.

Based in New York City, Navare is both a cartoonist and a creative entrepreneur.

As the Editorial Cartoonist for a prominent Indian media outlet from 2007 to 2018, he covered numerous elections in both India and the US.

Two of his cartoon collections have been published, with the foreword of the first authored by A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, the 11th President of India. His cartoons and caricatures have been displayed internationally, with some of his original works included in the collection of the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C.
