Seoul, April 4 (NationPress) South Korea's interim President Han Duck-soo pledged on Friday to promote stability in national security and foreign relations following the Constitutional Court's decision that removed former President Yoon Suk Yeol from office.
In a televised address, Han stated, “As interim president, I will ensure that there is no void in national security or international affairs, and the nation maintains a strong and steadfast security stance.”
He continued, “I will utilize all my powers to prevent disruptions in managing urgent issues like trade conflicts and firmly uphold public order so that our citizens feel secure and protected.”
The Constitutional Court's unanimous ruling confirmed Yoon's impeachment, which was due to his brief declaration of martial law last December. According to Yonhap news agency, South Korea must conduct a snap presidential election within the next 60 days.
Han assured citizens that he would strive for a seamless leadership transition to the next president.
