Reykjavik, Sep 6 (NationPress) Union Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh engaged with the dynamic members of the Indian community along with friends of India during a reception organized by the Indian Embassy in Reykjavik.
In a post on X, Singh shared, “Engaged with the lively Indian community and friends of India in Iceland at a reception hosted by the Embassy. It was uplifting to witness the positive and expanding role that the Indian diaspora is fulfilling in fortifying the India–Iceland partnership. I also had the pleasure of meeting esteemed Icelandic friends who have consistently acted as cultural ambassadors, nurturing lasting connections between our nations.”
This reception was part of Singh’s visit to Reykjavik for the 2nd India–Nordic Track 1.5 Dialogue.
While addressing attendees, the Minister emphasized the strengthening cooperation between India and Iceland, commending the diaspora's efforts in enhancing cultural and economic connections.
Earlier that Friday, Singh also spoke at the reception of the Track 1.5 Dialogue, alongside Iceland’s Foreign Minister Katrin Gunnarsdottir.
“Thrilled to be in Reykjavik for the 2nd India Nordic Track 1.5 Dialogue. I delivered remarks at the reception with Iceland's Foreign Minister, Katrin Gunnarsdottir. It was rewarding to engage with senior officials, scholars, and representatives from Nordic think tanks. I anticipate fruitful discussions tomorrow,” Singh mentioned on X.
During his visit, Singh assessed the advancements made on the '3 Ts': Trade, Tourism, and Technology at the Indian Embassy in Reykjavík, while also exploring new initiatives to enhance bilateral cooperation in these sectors.
The Ministry of External Affairs indicated that Singh's trip to Iceland will bolster bilateral relations and promote interactions between strategic and research communities from India and Nordic nations.
On Thursday, Singh met with Foreign Minister Gunnarsdottir to evaluate progress in crucial sectors such as trade and investment, renewable energy, geothermal energy, and fisheries.
He expressed India's gratitude for Iceland’s strong denouncement of the Pahalgam terror attack and reaffirmed New Delhi’s dedication to further solidifying ties in areas of mutual interest.
