Reykjavik, Sep 5 (NationPress) Kirti Vardhan Singh, the Minister of State for External Affairs, spoke at the reception for the 2nd India-Nordic Track 1.5 Dialogue alongside Thorgerdur Katrin Gunnarsdottir, Iceland's Foreign Minister, in Reykjavik. During this gathering, the MoS interacted with leading officials, scholars, and representatives from think tanks across the Nordic region.
“Thrilled to be in Reykjavik for the 2nd India Nordic Track 1.5 Dialogue. I delivered remarks at the reception with Iceland's Foreign Minister, Thorgerdur Katrin Gunnarsdottir. It was a pleasure to engage with esteemed officials, scholars, and think tank leaders from the Nordic countries. Anticipating fruitful discussions tomorrow,” Singh shared on X.
Singh also took the opportunity to visit the Indian Embassy in Reykjavík, where he assessed advancements on the '3 Ts' (Trade, Tourism, and Technology). He shared ideas to further enhance bilateral trade, tourism, and tech collaborations.
On Thursday, the MoS met with Foreign Minister Gunnarsdottir in Reykjavik, reviewing the progress in bilateral cooperation across various domains including trade and investment, renewable energy, geothermal energy, and fisheries.
Singh expressed his eagerness to collaborate closely to strengthen ties with Iceland in areas of mutual interest and conveyed India's gratitude for Iceland's strong condemnation of the Pahalgam terror attack, which tragically resulted in 26 fatalities and numerous injuries.
“It was great to meet H.E. Thorgerdur Katrin Gunnarsdottir, Foreign Minister of Iceland in Reykjavík today. I expressed our gratitude for the firm condemnation of the Pahalgam terror attack. We reviewed the progress in our bilateral cooperation regarding trade & investment, renewable energy, geothermal energy, and fisheries. Additionally, we discussed global and regional geopolitical matters. I look forward to enhancing our ties with Iceland in these areas of common interest,” Singh tweeted following their meeting.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) noted that Singh is on a two-day visit to Iceland from September 4-5 to participate in the second edition of the India-Nordic Track 1.5 Dialogue and to deliver the keynote address at the inaugural session.
He is set to meet with the Speaker of the Icelandic Parliament and other dignitaries involved in the Dialogue.
Upon arriving in Iceland, the MoS tweeted, “Landed in the stunning city of Reykjavik for the 2nd edition of the Nordic-India dialogue. Eager to engage in constructive discussions during the Dialogue and my bilateral meetings with the Icelandic side.”
