Harare, June 27 (NationPress) - The Minister of State (MoS) for External Affairs, Kirti Vardhan Singh, convened a meeting with Amon Murwira, the Foreign Minister of Zimbabwe on Friday. They acknowledged that this is an ideal moment to seek new pathways for collaboration, enhancing and deepening the long-standing people-to-people connections between the two nations.
"I met with Amon Murwira, the Foreign Minister, and we concurred that it is a prime opportunity to expand our areas of cooperation to reinforce our historical people-to-people ties," the Minister shared on X.
Singh also honored the bust of Mahatma Gandhi with a floral tribute at the Harare Hindu Society campus. While engaging with the Indian community in Zimbabwe, he emphasized the diaspora's role as a foundation of strength in India-Zimbabwe relations.
The Minister noted that over 10,000 members of the Indian diaspora have made Zimbabwe their home since the 19th century.
"Minister of State Kirti Vardhan Singh visited the Harare Hindu Society, paying floral tribute to the bust of Mahatma Gandhi and interacting with the Indian community," the Indian Embassy in Harare reported on X.
Additionally, the Minister planted a seedling of Laxmi Taru at the Om Temple grounds, part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's initiative, 'Ek Ped Ma Ke Naam,' in the company of community members.
Singh arrived in Zimbabwe late Thursday after concluding his official commitments in Mozambique.
As stated by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), during his Zimbabwe visit, Singh plans to meet the country's top leadership and several ministers to further solidify India's bilateral relations.
The MEA also noted that he will visit the KAZA (Kavango Zambezi) Transfrontier Conservation Area (TFCA) and Victoria Falls to discuss issues related to Conservation, Wildlife Protection Management, and Climate Change.
