Sydney, Feb 25 (NationPress) Three individuals have been hospitalized and four teenagers taken into custody following a stabbing incident in Melbourne's northern suburbs.

On Tuesday, police reported that officers responded to notifications of a brawl and stabbing at a retail store parking lot in the suburb of Broadmeadows—located 15 km north of central Melbourne—around 7:30 pm local time on Monday, according to Xinhua news agency.

Upon arrival, authorities discovered two males—aged 40 and 18—who had sustained suspected stab wounds. Both were promptly transported to a medical facility with injuries that were not life-threatening.

Witnesses informed the police that a group of teenagers was seen fleeing the scene.

The police air support unit was dispatched to the vicinity and identified the group entering a residence.

Detectives, alongside members of the critical incident response team, proceeded to the location and apprehended three 19-year-old males and one 18-year-old male.

A fifth individual, aged 14, also suffered injuries during the altercation and was hospitalized with non-life-threatening wounds. Authorities indicated that they would interview him regarding the incident.

The police disclosed in a statement that the conflict erupted when the 40-year-old and 18-year-old arrived at the parking area searching for headphones that had been stolen from a nearby shopping center earlier that evening.

One of the 19-year-old attackers faces charges of causing serious injury with intent in circumstances of gross violence, affray, and robbery. The first charge carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison.

The 18-year-old has been charged with intentionally and recklessly causing injury and affray, while the other two 19-year-olds face charges of affray, recklessly causing injury, assault by kicking, and robbery.
