Washington, Feb 2 (NationPress) US Congressman Shri Thanedar has officially kicked off the 2026 election journey with a robust financial backing, reporting $6.4 million in cash available at the conclusion of 2025, as per his campaign's year-end finance disclosure. The Democrat from the Detroit area emphasized that this fundraising prowess will enable him to effectively convey his achievements and priorities to voters in Michigan’s 13th Congressional District as the election approaches.

“This guarantees Congressman Thanedar will possess the necessary resources to inform voters in the 13th District about his accomplishments and the ways he is advocating for them,” stated his campaign in a press release regarding the filing.

Thanedar, representing a district that encompasses Detroit and its neighboring areas, has positioned his record around vital issues such as national security, immigration, and economic policy, while strongly criticizing former President Donald Trump and high-ranking officials from his administration.

“Voters will recognize that I am at the forefront of safeguarding our Democracy,” Thanedar remarked. “I was the pioneer in presenting seven articles of impeachment against President Trump, followed by impeachment initiatives against Secretaries Hegseth and Noem.

Thanedar has also directed his legislative efforts towards US immigration enforcement agencies. “I challenged ICE by initiating legislation to eliminate qualified immunity in 2025, followed by another bill aimed at abolishing ICE after tragic incidents involving citizens in Minnesota,” he elaborated.

On the economic front, Thanedar stressed his commitment to tax fairness and substantial federal investments in his district. “Voters will see that I’m advocating for millionaires and billionaires to contribute their fair share by proposing a tax increase to 70 percent, addressing the capital gains tax inequality, and suggesting that families earning $100,000 or less should not owe any federal income taxes,” he stated.

Moreover, he highlighted the tangible benefits his office has brought locally. “Throughout this period, I secured $25 million for various projects in the district while opposing Trump's detrimental cuts to federal programs,” Thanedar noted.

The congressman also pointed out his office's dedication to constituent services, remarking, “My staff has assisted over 3,800 constituents facing challenges with federal agencies.”

“I am confident that the constituents of the 13th District will choose me once again to represent them in Congress come 2026,” he affirmed.
