Port of Spain, July 4 (NationPress) During a recent address to the Indian community in Trinidad and Tobago, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed that the community joyfully welcomed the return of Ram Lalla to Ayodhya after a span of 500 years, showcasing their profound faith and devotion towards Lord Ram.
Addressing the Indian diaspora, PM Modi remarked, "We recall your contributions, including the holy water and Shilas you sent for the construction of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya."
He continued, "In a similar spirit of devotion, I have brought with me a replica of the Ram Mandir and some holy water from the River Sarayu."
PM Modi stated: "The Ram-Leelas in Sangre Grande and Dow Village are said to be exceptional. The Shri Ram Charit Manas beautifully describes, 'राम धामदा पुरी सुहावनि। लोक समस्त बिदित अति पावनि।' This translates to the sacred city of Prabhu Shri Ram being so splendid that its fame spreads throughout the globe. I am confident you all celebrated the return of Ram Lalla to Ayodhya with immense joy.
"Prabhu Shri Ram conveys that the splendor of Ayodhya emanates from the sacred Sarayu. Anyone who immerses themselves in its waters achieves eternal unity with Shri Ram," he added.
"Earlier this year, we witnessed the world’s largest spiritual event, the Maha Kumbh. I have the privilege to carry water from this gathering with me. I urge PM Kamla Persad-Bissessar to offer the holy waters from the Sarayu River and Maha Kumbh to the Ganga Dhara here. May these sacred waters bless the people of Trinidad and Tobago.
The Prime Minister acknowledged: "The narrative of the Indian community in Trinidad and Tobago embodies resilience. The difficulties faced by your ancestors could have daunted even the strongest spirits. Yet, they confronted challenges with hope and perseverance. They left the Ganga and Yamuna behind but carried the Ramayan in their hearts. They departed from their homeland but not their essence. They were not mere migrants but heralds of a timeless civilization. Their contributions have enriched this nation culturally, economically, and spiritually. Just observe the remarkable impact you have made on this beautiful land.
"Our connection transcends both geography and generations," PM Modi remarked.
He also mentioned: "Kamla Persad-Bissessar Ji — the inaugural female Prime Minister of this nation. Her Excellency Christine Carla Kangaloo Ji — the female President. The late Basdeo Pandey, who rose from a farmer’s son to become a respected global leader. Notable figures like Rudranath Capildeo, the musical legend Sundar Popo, cricketing star Darren Ganga, and Sewdass Sadhu, whose faith led to the establishment of the Temple in the Sea. The list of distinguished achievers is extensive."
"You, the children of Girmitiyas, are no longer identified by your struggles. You are characterized by your achievements, service, and values. There must be something enchanting in the 'doubles' and 'dal poori' — for you have multiplied the success of this great nation!" PM Modi remarked during his address to the Indian community.
"When I visited 25 years ago, we admired the prowess of Lara’s cover drives and pull shots. Today, it is Sunil Narine and Nicholas Pooran who spark the same excitement in the hearts of our youth. Our friendship has only deepened since then."
"Cities like Benaras, Patna, Kolkata, and Delhi may be found in India, yet they also grace the streets here. Celebrations of Navratra, Mahashivratri, and Janmashtmi are vibrant here, filled with joy and pride. Chowtal and Baithak Gana continue to thrive in this region."
"I witness the warmth of countless familiar faces. I also perceive the curiosity in the bright eyes of the younger generation, eager to learn and grow together. Indeed, our connections extend far beyond boundaries and generations," PM Modi concluded.
