Trump Appoints Harmeet Dhillon as Chief Civil Rights Official

New York, Dec 10 (NationPress) US President-elect Donald Trump has appointed Harmeet Dhillon, a prominent activist within the Republican Party, as the assistant attorney general for civil rights.
"In her new capacity at the Department of Justice (DOJ), Harmeet will be an unwavering advocate for our Constitutional Rights, ensuring that our Civil Rights and Election Laws are enforced FAIRLY and FIRMLY," Trump stated on Truth Social when making the announcement on Monday.
"Throughout her career, Harmeet has consistently fought to defend our invaluable Civil Liberties," he added.
He further remarked, "Harmeet is among the leading Election lawyers in the country, working diligently to guarantee that all, and only, legitimate votes are counted."
Trump also highlighted that Harmeet Dhillon is a respected figure within the Sikh religious community.
If confirmed by the Senate, she will be the second Indian-American to occupy this key civil rights position, following Vanita Gupta, who served during Barack Obama's administration and was the associate attorney general for two years under President Joe Biden.
Dhillon previously ran for the chair of the Republican National Committee but was unsuccessful.
She has been actively involved with the Republican National Committee and has led a Sikh prayer at the Republican National Conventions in both 2016 and 2024.
During the 2020 election, she served as a legal adviser to the Trump campaign.
She co-chaired the Women for Trump initiative, which aimed to rally female support for his campaign.
Her civil rights work has centered around advocating for the rights of Conservatives, a focus she is likely to bring to the DOJ.
Trump remarked that "she has challenged Big Tech for censoring our Free Speech, represented Christians who were barred from praying together during COVID, and has taken legal action against companies employing woke policies that discriminate against their employees."
During the COVID pandemic, she filed lawsuits against California, New Jersey, and Virginia over their lockdown regulations that restricted churches from conducting worship services.
Additionally, she sued the University of California, Berkeley on behalf of a youth organization for blocking a right-wing activist from speaking on campus.
One of her notable cases involved a White individual who claimed he was terminated by Google for writing a memo that criticized the company's diversity initiatives.
Dhillon has also taken legal action against the far-left group Antifa for allegedly assaulting a journalist.
Another case she initiated was against a California healthcare group on behalf of a woman who alleged that she received sex change treatment as a minor.
