Washington, March 14 (NationPress) - US President Donald Trump announced that the United States has conducted a significant bombing operation on Iran's crucial Kharg Island, asserting that American forces effectively "completely destroyed" military installations at this vital oil export center while intentionally avoiding damage to the energy infrastructure.

In a statement shared on social media, Trump indicated that this operation was initiated under his command and carried out by the US Central Command.

"Just moments ago, at my directive, the United States Central Command executed one of the most formidable bombing operations in the annals of the Middle East, and utterly annihilated every MILITARY target in Iran's prized asset, Kharg Island," he proclaimed.

He noted that US forces possessed the capability to devastate the island's energy infrastructure but opted not to pursue that course of action.

"Our weaponry is the most advanced and powerful the world has ever witnessed, but out of respect, I have decided NOT to demolish the Oil Infrastructure on the Island," Trump added.

Kharg Island serves as a pivotal energy hub for Iran, playing a crucial role in the nation's crude oil exports. A significant portion of Iran's oil production is routed through the facilities situated on this island in the Persian Gulf.

Trump mentioned that the decision to spare oil infrastructure could be revised if Iran disrupts maritime operations in the area.

"However, if Iran, or any other entity, attempts to interfere with the Free and Safe Passage of Ships through the Strait of Hormuz, I will quickly reassess this choice," he stated.

The Strait of Hormuz is a vital global energy shipping route, with a considerable amount of international oil trade transiting through this narrow channel connecting the Persian Gulf to global markets.

Additionally, Trump issued a stern warning to Iran's leadership and military forces, asserting that Tehran has minimal capacity to defend against any further US actions.

"Iran has NO capability to defend against any targets we choose to attack — They are powerless!" he declared.

The US president reiterated the long-standing US stance that Iran must not advance its nuclear weapons program.

"Iran will NEVER possess a nuclear weapon, nor will it be able to pose a threat to the United States, the Middle East, or the world at large!" Trump emphasized.

He also called on Iran's military and governing bodies to cease their aggressive actions.

"Iran's Military, along with all those associated with this Terrorist Regime, would be prudent to disarm and salvage what remains of their nation, which is not much!" he added.

According to The New York Times, the US military strike focused on military installations on Kharg Island, including facilities containing missiles and naval mines, while intentionally avoiding damage to the island's economic oil infrastructure.

The Wall Street Journal confirmed that Kharg Island is Iran's principal oil export hub and handles the majority of the country's crude shipments via facilities located in the Persian Gulf.

Situated approximately 20 miles off Iran's southern coastline, Kharg Island is regarded as one of Tehran's most strategic energy assets. The large storage terminals and export facilities on the island are integral to Iran's oil economy.
