Washington, May 21 (NationPress) US President Donald Trump on Wednesday intensely questioned the visiting President of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, regarding the persecution of white farmers in his nation, utilizing a video presentation and news articles during a joint media interaction at the White House.
At one point, Trump requested that the lights in the Oval Office be dimmed to showcase a video depicting an individual advocating for the murder of white farmers and the seizure of their lands.
One particular clip seemed to display vehicles transporting the remains of slain farmers.
This public interrogation of a foreign leader at the White House mirrored the confrontation between President Trump and Vice-President J.D. Vance versus Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky in February, which led to the cancellation of the remainder of their scheduled meetings for the day.
Nonetheless, the South African delegation remained and proceeded with their other engagements.
President Ramaphosa, who had requested the meeting, attempted to counter the claims made by President Trump. Trump responded, “But why wouldn’t you arrest that man? That man said, ‘Kill the white farmers. Kill the white farmers.’ And then he danced, and he’s dancing, dancing.”
“I’m not certain, but I believe if someone stood up in Parliament and began proclaiming to kill a specific group of people, he would be apprehended very swiftly,” President Trump remarked.
“That man is traveling all over South Africa, and that’s not merely a small gathering in a stadium with a capacity of 100,000 people; I hardly noticed an empty seat. That’s a significant number of people, that’s substantial representation.”
The South African President sought to downplay the individual in the video as a member of a minor opposition party, arguing that these were fringe elements within South Africa.
“Those crosses,” President Trump commented about the clip depicting vehicles with bodies and crosses, “we have deceased white individuals, deceased white farmers, predominantly. Look at Australia; they are being overwhelmed, and we are being overwhelmed with individuals wanting to escape, and their farms are worthless... This is an extremely serious situation.”
Trump has suspended foreign aid to South Africa and has mandated expedited processing of refugee status for white South Africans.
