Washington, March 6 (NationPress) US President Donald Trump has issued what he referred to as a "final warning" to Hamas, demanding the release of hostages currently held in Gaza.

"Shalom Hamas" translates to Hello and Goodbye - Your choice. Release all hostages immediately, and return the bodies of those you murdered, or it is OVER for you. Only sick and twisted individuals keep bodies, and that describes you!

Trump emphasized in a post on Truth Social, "I am providing Israel with everything necessary to conclude this matter; no Hamas member will be safe if you do not comply with my demands."

This statement follows the White House’s confirmation of direct negotiations with Hamas regarding the hostages, as reported by the BBC.

Historically, Washington has refrained from direct interactions with Hamas due to its designation as a terrorist organization.

In his social media message, Trump warned of "serious consequences" if the hostages are not released, although he did not clarify the type of support he is sending to Israel.

"Release all hostages now, return the bodies of those you murdered, or it is OVER for you," he reiterated.

He suggested that Hamas leadership should consider leaving Gaza while they still can.

Trump further threatened civilians: "To the people of Gaza: A beautiful future awaits you, but not if you hold hostages. If you do, you are DEAD!"

This is not the first time Trump has made threats against Hamas.

In December, he warned there would be "serious repercussions" if hostages were not released before his administration took charge, according to the BBC.

The post was made following Trump’s meeting with recently released hostages at the White House.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed that the US is indeed holding direct negotiations with Hamas to secure the hostages' release.

Leavitt noted that Israel was consulted ahead of the talks.

She stated that President Trump is committed to acting in the best interest of the American populace.

According to her, the special envoy for hostages, Adam Boehler’s efforts are a "good faith initiative to do what is right for Americans."

A Palestinian source informed the BBC that there have been "two direct meetings" between Hamas and a US official, preceded by several communications.

Israel has reported that 59 hostages are still being held in Gaza, with up to 24 believed to be alive, including US citizens.

Axios initially reported the discussions, indicating that both parties met in Qatar to negotiate the release of American hostages and a broader agreement to cease hostilities.

Israel's Prime Minister's office indicated they have "shared their stance" regarding the direct discussions but offered no further details.

Boehler has met with Hamas representatives in Doha recently.

Hamas has maintained a presence in Doha since 2012, reportedly initiated by the Obama administration.

This small but significant Gulf nation serves as a crucial US ally in the region, hosting a major American airbase and facilitating numerous sensitive political negotiations, including those with Iran, the Taliban, and Russia.

Together with the US and Egypt, Qatar has played a pivotal role in mediating a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.
