Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, March 2 (NationPress) The Foreign Affairs Ministries of both the United Arab Emirates and Jordan have called upon Iranian diplomats in their capitals to voice their strong objections regarding the recent assaults on their territories, which they categorize as serious infringements on sovereignty and breaches of international law.
In Amman, the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates summoned the Chargé d’Affaires from the Iranian Embassy, delivering a stern protest to his government.
In a statement shared on X, the Ministry condemned the attacks on Jordanian lands and those of allied Arab nations, describing them as blatant violations of sovereignty and a gross infringement of international law and the United Nations Charter. It also denounced these actions as an escalation that jeopardizes the safety of citizens and the stability of both regional and international security.
Fuad Al-Majali, the Ministry’s spokesperson, stated, “The Chargé d’Affaires was informed of the urgent need to halt the attacks on Jordan, to respect its sovereignty and territorial integrity, and to comply with international law and principles of good neighborliness. Jordan is committed to taking all necessary measures to safeguard its citizens, security, and sovereignty.”
In parallel, the UAE's Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned Iranian Ambassador Reza Ameri in Abu Dhabi to issue a formal protest regarding the attacks.
The Ministry declared, “The UAE unequivocally condemns Iran’s terrorist actions and attacks. Targeting UAE territory is a clear infringement of its sovereignty, poses a threat to national security, and contravenes all international agreements and standards.”
Khalifa Shaheen Al Marar, Minister of State, underlined, “The UAE outright rejects any justifications offered by the Iranian Government for the aggressive actions aimed at civilian locations, including residential areas, airports, ports, and essential services, which endanger innocent lives. This reckless escalation overlooks the UAE’s firm stance against allowing its territory to be used for military efforts against Iran.”
He stressed that these attacks violate the principles of good neighborliness and the United Nations Charter, hindering the path toward de-escalation and peaceful resolutions that the UAE has consistently sought with Iran.
The minister cautioned about the severe implications for bilateral relations, which could adversely affect political, economic, and commercial ties.
The synchronized diplomatic protests from Jordan and the UAE highlight an escalating regional concern regarding Iran's military activities and their possible repercussions on civilian safety and regional stability.
