Geneva, March 12 (NationPress) An international human rights organization has unveiled a photo exhibition during the ongoing session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) in Geneva, Switzerland, which underscores the alarming systemic discrimination and repression faced by religious and ethnic minorities in Pakistan.

The exhibition, organized by Global Human Rights Defence (GHRD), features visual evidence and reports that detail alleged human rights violations affecting minorities in Pakistan, such as Hindus, Christians, Sindhis, and Balochis, as reported by Khalsa Vox. The goal of the exhibition is to raise awareness among diplomats, policymakers, and international observers regarding the increasing systemic discrimination and repression these communities endure.

Numerous displays focused on instances of enforced disappearances and reports of forced conversions, particularly in Balochistan province. The images and their accompanying narratives depicted the struggles of families whose loved ones have vanished and the legal and social challenges that minority groups reportedly encounter.

The exhibition also brought attention to regional security issues, including claims of Pakistan’s support for militant activities in Jammu and Kashmir. Materials showcased at the event referenced several incidents, including a terrorist attack that occurred in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam in 2025, as reported by Khalsa Vox.

Representatives of GHRD indicated that this initiative seeks to foster increased international scrutiny and dialogue regarding the protection of minority rights in Pakistan. GHRD is an international NGO dedicated to safeguarding fundamental rights, especially those of minority communities globally.

In a recent incident, a Christian worker from Punjab province was reportedly tortured to death by his Muslim employers, who allegedly made the murder appear as a suicide by hanging, according to claims from the victim’s younger brother.

Dilshad Masih reported that his 21-year-old brother, Marcus Masih, had been employed for five years at a cattle farm owned by Muhammad Mohsin Kharal and Muhammad Basharat Kharal in Sargodha district.

Dilshad stated that on the morning of March 4, Basharat called him to relay that Marcus had hanged himself in the cattle shed. Christian Daily International-Morning Star News covered this report.

“Two relatives and I rushed to their village, where we discovered Marcus’s body hanging from the ceiling. They claimed to be unaware of his motives for suicide,” Dilshad recounted.

Suspicion arose when hospital staff handed over the body after a post-mortem examination. Dilshad alleged that lawyers associated with the Muslim employers coerced them into signing a blank sheet of paper, claiming it was necessary for the autopsy.

“We were overwhelmed with grief and did not question them. However, upon receiving the body, we noticed significant bruises and burn marks, leading us to realize Marcus had been tortured,” he added.

Following this incident, numerous Christians staged a protest, placing the body on the main highway and halting traffic while demanding that legal action be taken.
