In a post on X, Trump stated, “Tonight we witnessed a GREAT TRIUMPH in the Senate with the ‘GREAT, BIG, BEAUTIFUL BILL’, made possible by the remarkable efforts of Senator Rick Scott, Senator Mike Lee, Senator Ron Johnson, and Senator Cynthia Lummis.”
“As the President of the United States, I take great pride in their work and anticipate collaborating with them to STRENGTHEN OUR ECONOMY, MINIMIZE WASTEFUL EXPENDITURES, SECURE OUR BORDERS, ADVOCATE FOR OUR MILITARY/VETERANS, ENSURE OUR MEDICAID SYSTEM ASSISTS THOSE IN NEED, DEFEND OUR SECOND AMENDMENT, and much more. GOD BLESS AMERICA & MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!,” he continued.
All Republican senators voted 'yes' for the bill; however, Thom Tillis, Ron Johnson, and Rand Paul broke ranks with their party, resulting in a close 51 to 49 vote.
The ‘Big Beautiful Bill’ is focused on funding President Trump’s primary immigration, border, tax-cut, and military objectives. This legislation is part of Trump’s initiatives towards tax reductions and strategic spending.
Under this bill, the 2017 tax cuts initiated during Trump’s first term will be extended, which will reduce other taxes while increasing military and border security funding as part of the immigration crackdown.
To deliver on his promise of the largest mass deportation effort in US history, the bill allocates approximately $350 billion for Trump’s agenda on border and national security, including $46 billion for the U.S.-Mexico border wall and $45 billion for 100,000 migrant detention facility beds.
