Washington, Dec 3 (NationPress) The US government has unveiled a new military support package for Ukraine valued at $725 million to address the pressing needs of the nation engaged in conflict with Russia.
The latest package includes air defense systems, munitions for rocket launchers and artillery, as well as anti-tank weaponry, as stated in a press release from the Department of Defense on Monday.
This provision follows President Joe Biden's announcement on September 26 about another substantial package of critical weaponry and equipment for Ukraine. The arms will be supplied under previously enacted Presidential Drawdown Authority utilizing Department of Defense reserves, as detailed in the Department of State's announcement.
News outlets had previously reported on this assistance based on unnamed sources ahead of the official statements from the Defense and State Departments, as noted by the Xinhua news agency.
Additionally, this announcement aligns with the Biden administration's reported request for Ukraine to reduce its recruitment age from 25 to 18 to compensate for the manpower losses on the battlefield.
