United States Unveils Nearly $1 Billion in Long-Term Military Support for Ukraine

Washington, December 8 (NationPress) - The US Department of Defence has made a significant announcement regarding military support, pledging nearly $988 million in weapons aid to Ukraine over an extended timeframe, aimed at bolstering its defense capabilities in light of the ongoing conflict with Russia.
According to a formal statement, this new military assistance, facilitated through the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI), will include critical supplies such as ammunition for the HIMARS rocket systems, unmanned aerial vehicles, and various equipment, components, and spare parts necessary for the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of artillery systems, tanks, and armored vehicles.
This marks the 22nd USAI package announced by the Joe Biden administration for Ukraine, as reported by the Xinhua news agency.
In contrast to arms provided through the Presidential Drawdown Authorities, which are sourced directly from the Pentagon's inventory, the weapons included in a USAI package are typically acquired through contracts established by the US government with domestic manufacturers, often leading to extended delivery timelines.
