Zelensky and Scholz Discuss Military and Diplomatic Aid for Ukraine

Kyiv, Dec 3 (NationPress) Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz met in the capital to discuss military and diplomatic support for Kyiv in the forthcoming months, as stated by Zelensky's press office.

The discussions emphasized bilateral cooperation between Ukraine and Germany, along with collaboration with other partners, as per a statement released on Monday via the presidential website, reported by the Xinhua news agency.

Zelensky expressed his appreciation to Scholz for Germany's ongoing military assistance, which includes the delivery of Patriot and IRIS-T air defense systems, as well as Gepard anti-aircraft guns.

The Ukrainian leader also welcomed Germany's recent military aid package amounting to 650 million euros (approximately $683 million), scheduled for delivery this month.

In response, Scholz highlighted that Germany's military support to Kyiv since the onset of the full-scale Russia-Ukraine conflict has totaled 28 billion euros (about $29.4 billion).

"In 2025, we will continue to provide air defense systems, howitzers, and combat and reconnaissance drones. Furthermore, six armed Sea King helicopters will be included," he mentioned.

Scholz arrived in Kyiv earlier on Monday for his inaugural bilateral visit to Ukraine since the war commenced.

Previously, he visited the capital in the summer of 2022 as part of a joint delegation with leaders from France, Romania, and Italy.
