Kyiv, March 9 (NationPress) The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, has provided insights regarding the upcoming discussions between American and Ukrainian representatives in Saudi Arabia aimed at facilitating peace negotiations amidst the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict.

On Saturday, Zelensky posted on X, stating, "Today, a highly constructive meeting occurred in Kyiv involving the diplomatic teams from Ukraine and the UK. Our discussions revolved around collaborative actions that could propel us towards peace and expedite our diplomatic endeavors. I am thankful for the support. Ukraine is committed to taking all necessary actions to conclude this war with a fair and enduring peace as swiftly as possible."

This will mark the initial high-level meeting of US and Ukrainian officials following the February 28 discussion between Zelensky and US President Donald Trump.

Additionally, Zelensky mentioned that a meeting was conducted between the diplomatic teams of the UK and Ukraine to outline strategies for achieving peace.

Earlier, during a summit of European leaders in London on March 2, the Ukrainian President expressed profound gratitude for the support extended to Ukraine while discussing its future and relationship with Europe.

In his recent UK visit, Zelensky and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer examined the challenges confronting Ukraine and Europe, alongside efforts to secure a fair peace with solid security guarantees.

This year, the UK and Ukraine formalized a 100-year partnership agreement, emphasizing Ukraine's recovery and a commitment to fostering technological innovation across various sectors.

The Ukrainian President announced that he will be visiting Saudi Arabia next week, where he will engage with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, followed by discussions with the American delegation.

"Next week, I will commence my visit to Saudi Arabia. Following my meeting with the Crown Prince on Monday, Ukrainian diplomatic and military representatives will convene on Tuesday with the American team, which includes Andriy Yermak, Andriy Sybiha, Rustem Umerov, and Pavlo Palisa," he stated in his post.

"We are entirely dedicated to a constructive dialogue and aspire to deliberate on and agree upon the essential decisions and actions. Ukraine has sought peace from the very onset of this war. Viable proposals are ready for discussion. The priority is to act swiftly and effectively," Zelensky elaborated.

Meanwhile, US envoy Steve Witkoff confirmed his attendance in Saudi Arabia to meet with Ukrainian officials, where they will discuss an "initial ceasefire" and a "framework" for a long-term agreement.

Notably, Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that these discussions will occur in Jeddah.
