Zelensky Expresses Willingness to Conclude Conflict for NATO Membership: Report

Kyiv, Nov 30 (NationPress) Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed his willingness to conclude the 'hot phase' of the conflict with Russia in exchange for Ukraine's membership in the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO).
"If we want to stop the hot phase of the war, we need to put the territory of Ukraine that is under our control under the NATO umbrella. We need to do it fast," Zelensky was reported as saying by the Interfax-Ukraine news agency, as noted by the Xinhua news agency.
He further mentioned that Ukraine could later recover the territories currently held by Russia through diplomatic means.
It is crucial that any NATO invitation acknowledges Ukraine's internationally recognized borders.
Zelensky emphasized that a ceasefire is essential to ensure that Russia 'does not return' to seize additional Ukrainian territory.
