Kyiv, Nov 26 (NationPress) Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed that the peace framework set up by Ukraine and the United States in Geneva has the potential to evolve into "more comprehensive agreements."
In a speech delivered on Tuesday, Zelensky mentioned that he had conferred with Ukraine's negotiation team regarding the plan. "The principles in this document can be developed into deeper agreements. And it is in our shared interest that security is real," he remarked.
He also shared optimism for ongoing productive collaboration with the US government and US President Donald Trump, as reported by Xinhua.
Earlier that day, Andriy Yermak, head of Ukraine's presidential office, stated that Zelensky wishes to meet with Trump to finalize a joint agreement concerning the resolution of the Ukraine crisis, according to Interfax-Ukraine.
Yermak noted that Ukrainian and US negotiators had achieved a consensus on most elements of the US-suggested peace plan, which had undergone significant modifications from the original 28-point US proposal. Nevertheless, Zelensky aspires to directly negotiate territorial matters with Trump, Yermak added.
Earlier on Sunday, delegates from the United States, Ukraine, and European nations convened in Geneva, as the White House advocated for agreement on the 28-point plan.
Following discussions between the Ukrainian delegation and national security advisors from Britain, France, and Germany, the Ukrainian side engaged in bilateral talks with US representatives.
It was reported that the Geneva meeting on Sunday included US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff, and Army Secretary Daniel Driscoll, with Zelensky's office chief Andriy Yermak leading the Ukrainian delegation.
A joint statement released by the White House on Sunday evening indicated that the discussions between US representatives and Ukrainian officials in Geneva made "significant progress toward aligning positions."
