New Delhi, Aug 17 (NationPress) In a remarkable milestone for consumer grievance resolution, ten states, alongside the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC), achieved a disposal rate exceeding 100 percent in July. This indicates that the cases resolved surpassed those filed during this timeframe, as stated in an official announcement on Sunday.

Additionally, over 200,000 users, including NRIs, have signed up on the e-Jagriti platform since its inception (up to August 6), with 85,531 cases lodged through it this year alone.

According to data from the Department of Consumer Affairs, NCDRC's disposal rate reached 122 percent, while Tamil Nadu topped the list with 277 percent, followed by Rajasthan at 214 percent, and Telangana at 158 percent. Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand both recorded 150 percent, Meghalaya 140 percent, Kerala 122 percent, Puducherry 111 percent, Chhattisgarh 108 percent, and Uttar Pradesh at 101 percent.

Analysis of the data from July 1-31 showed that the total disposal of consumer cases nationwide was significantly higher compared to the same period in 2024, highlighting ongoing efforts for timely and effective resolution of consumer disputes.

The Department of Consumer Affairs launched e-Jagriti on January 1, 2025, a next-generation, unified digital platform aimed at transforming consumer grievance redressal across the nation.

Designed to boost accessibility, transparency, and efficiency, the platform merges legacy systems like OCMS, e-Daakhil, NCDRC CMS, and the CONFONET portal into a single cohesive interface, removing fragmentation for users.

Now operational at the NCDRC and throughout all 36 states and Union Territories, e-Jagriti allows consumers and advocates to register through OTP-based authentication, submit complaints from anywhere in India or abroad, pay fees online or offline, and monitor case progress in real-time, as per the ministry.

e-Jagriti is distinguished by its inclusive, citizen-centric design, providing digital case filing, document exchange, virtual hearings, real-time SMS and email updates, multilingual support, chatbot assistance, and voice-to-text features aimed at helping visually impaired and elderly users,” it remarked.

e-Jagriti incorporates Bharat Kosh and PayGov payment gateways for smooth fee transactions, ensures secure access through role-based permissions and end-to-end encryption, and minimizes the need for paper and travel by fully digitizing workflows.
