Itanagar, Jan 23 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Pema Khandu, announced on Wednesday that approximately 1,300 villages within the state are still without road connectivity. He pledged that every effort would be made to ensure these villages are linked by road within the upcoming years.
During his visit to the isolated and rugged Tali Assembly constituency, the Chief Minister emphasized the government's primary focus on road connectivity and confirmed that approvals for roads to the currently unconnected villages would be granted, as requested by local MLA Jikke Tako.
In a significant development, CM Khandu traveled to Pipsorang, which has recently been designated as an SDO headquarters, by road from Tali in the Kra-Dadi district, marking the only constituency in the state that remained unconnected until 2022.
Accompanied by Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, Rajya Sabha MP Nabam Rebia, and the state's Urban Development Minister Balo Raja, the Chief Minister underscored the progress being made.
On February 27, 2022, CM Khandu inaugurated the road to Tali after traveling from Itanagar to reach the last unconnected administrative center.
He participated in the Nyokum festivities, achieving two notable milestones: being the first Chief Minister to reach Tali by road and to celebrate Nyokum in Tali.
Reflecting on his previous visit to Tali in 2022, CM Khandu mentioned that the road from the Joram-Koloriang Trans-Arunachal Highway to Yangte was in poor condition.
He confirmed that funding had been allocated for the enhancement of that road shortly after.
"I am pleased to note that work on that segment has commenced. Next time, I will arrive by road from Itanagar to Yangte-Tali and Pipsorang," he stated.
Additionally, he announced that several ongoing projects, primarily focused on road construction, valued at Rs 515 crore, are taking place in the Assembly constituency and revealed new sanctioned projects worth Rs 44.5 crore.
The newly approved projects encompass infrastructure development for the Pipsorang SDO office, enhancements for the newly established administrative circles of Paya and Nyorik, and the construction of roads in the Tali township.
