CAQM Task Force Uncovers 140 Dust Management Infractions in Meerut and Faridabad

New Delhi, April 3 (NationPress) The Enforcement Task Force (ETF) associated with the Commission for Air Quality Management in the NCR and neighboring regions (CAQM) has identified 140 infractions concerning dust management in Meerut and Faridabad, as confirmed by an official on Friday.
During its 128th assembly on Thursday, the ETF conducted a thorough review of enforcement actions and inspections that occurred throughout the National Capital Region (NCR) from March 14 to March 26, according to an official announcement.
The meeting encompassed evaluations performed by the CAQM Flying Squads over a span of 13 days across critical sectors, including Construction & Demolition (C&D), the Industrial Sector, Road Dust, and Diesel Generator (DG) sets.
Throughout the reporting window, a comprehensive total of 175 inspections were conducted, which included 23 inspections at C&D sites, 37 in the industrial sector, and 114 pertaining to DG set violations.
Based on the findings from these inspections, the ETF has proposed closures for 10 units, sealing of 27 DG sets, issued Show Cause Notices (SCNs) to eight units, and suggested Environmental Compensation (EC) for one unit, as stated in the announcement.
The Task Force reviewed sector-specific enforcement, focusing on inspections regarding road dust management. Inspections conducted in Meerut and Faridabad, covering 16 zones, uncovered 140 violations, prompting directives to the respective municipal authorities for necessary corrective measures, including issuing notices for repeated non-compliance, according to the statement.
Additionally, the Task Force highlighted the necessity for targeted inspections in priority sectors such as DG sets, C&D sites, road dust, and stone crushers. It was also noted that a reorganization of the Flying Squad teams is in progress, with updated team structures to be announced soon.
The Task Force reviewed the cumulative enforcement status as of April 2, revealing that a total of 26,672 units/projects/entities have been inspected by the Commission's Flying Squads. From these inspections, 1,755 closure directives have been issued for non-compliance, as per the statement.
Out of these, 1,330 resumption orders have been granted following compliance verification. Furthermore, 123 cases have been forwarded to the relevant State Pollution Control Boards (SPCBs) or the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) for final determination, while 302 entities are still under review according to established procedures.
