Muktsar, Jan 14 (NationPress) On the revered occasion of Maghi, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann offered his respects at Gurdwara Sri Tuti Gandi Sahib and spoke to a large assembly, reaffirming the government's efforts regarding the recovery of 169 of the 328 missing 'saroops' (sacred copies of Sri Guru Granth Sahib).
On a day steeped in Sikh heritage and sacrifice, the Chief Minister emphasized that the retrieval of the 'saroops' serves as a duty rather than an achievement. He also declared the government’s plan to introduce a budgetary allocation for a Rs 1,000 monthly assistance scheme for women in the forthcoming budget, asserting that his administration has honored every commitment made to the citizens of Punjab.
During a political gathering, CM Mann reiterated that his government has fulfilled all promises made to the populace of Punjab. “We have respected every commitment made to our people, and we will initiate a scheme to provide Rs 1,000 to every woman in the state. The necessary budgetary allocation will be included in the upcoming budget. This government is entirely devoted to the welfare of all, and every promise made to the citizens of Punjab will be realized,” he stated.
Reflecting on the historical significance of the sacred site, the Chief Minister remarked that the land has borne witness to the ultimate sacrifice of Sikh warriors led by Bhai Maha Singh, with the entire Sikh ‘sangat’ paying homage to their martyrdom. “Individuals have gathered here from all corners of the state and are fortunate to partake in this assembly. This sacred land and the sacrifices made here resonate in the hearts of every Sikh worldwide, motivating them to resist tyranny, injustice, and oppression,” he commented.
In a critique of opposition parties, CM Mann remarked that former governments suffer from short memories and are merely waiting for their opportunity to exploit Punjab post-elections. “The ‘jhaadu’ (broom), symbolizing AAP, has cleansed the political landscape, which is why traditional parties are perplexed. These leaders are targeting me simply because I hail from a common family, an aspect they find hard to accept,” he noted.
Emphasizing that the people hold supreme power in a democracy, he stated that the masses are determined to teach opportunist leaders a lesson. “The significant turnout at this rally reflects the affection and support the people have for the government and its policies. Other parties are organizing rallies too, but Sukhbir Badal's rally must have concluded by now, as hardly anyone would have attended,” he quipped.
Focusing on governance priorities, the Chief Minister articulated that the role of any government is to empower children to craft new success stories in life. “Every file I sign aims to benefit the common man and the state. Over 63,000 youth have been offered jobs purely based on merit, devoid of corruption or recommendations. Every decision made by our government is centered on Punjab's advancement and the prosperity of its citizens,” the Chief Minister concluded.
