Recently, the Amritsar Commissionerate Police dismantled a cross-border drug smuggling ring linked to Pakistan-based operatives, arresting seven individuals and seizing 4.075 kg of heroin, one kg of methamphetamine (commonly referred to as ICE), and a 9mm Glock pistol.
DGP Yadav noted that the investigation revealed that the contraband was smuggled from Pakistan and distributed within the state via local networks directed through social media.
Detailing the operation, Amritsar Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar stated that acting on specific and reliable intelligence, police teams first detained Judgebir Singh, recovering 225 grams of heroin from him.
Intensive questioning and technical analysis of digital communications led investigators up the supply chain, resulting in the arrest of his associate, Jaspal Singh, from whom an additional 1.6 kg of heroin was seized.
Continuing the operation, based on disclosures, police teams also arrested Anmolpreet Singh, Harpinder Singh, and Tarunpreet Singh, leading to the recovery of 2.2 kg of heroin from their possession. The investigation has revealed that these suspects acted as couriers and distributors, operating under the direct instructions of handlers based in Pakistan, coordinating narcotic drops and distribution across various districts.
