Jaipur, Dec 4 (NationPress) In a well-coordinated operation, the Railway Protection Force (RPF), Child Line, and Srishti Seva Sansthan successfully rescued 22 minor children from the Dungarpur railway station in Rajasthan. These children were reportedly being trafficked to Gujarat for labor in catering.
Officials stated that three agents involved in the transportation of these minors have also been detained as of Thursday.
According to the authorities, the agents had collected the children from various villages within Dungarpur district and aimed to board a train from Chittorgarh to Asarwa, Gujarat.
The operation was initiated after Child Line officials from the Department of Child Rights received a tip-off from the RPF. The information suggested that a group of children had arrived at the station and were suspected of being illegally transported for labor.
A collaborative team consisting of Child Line, Srishti Seva Sansthan, RPF, and GRP personnel swiftly arrived at the station to carry out verification.
Upon their arrival, the agents attempted to flee. When apprehended and questioned, they initially claimed no knowledge of the children. They later tried to mislead the officials, first asserting their relation to the minors and then suggesting that the group was on a picnic. However, questioning of the children revealed the harsh reality—they were being taken out of the state for labor purposes.
A total of 27 individuals were intercepted. After verifying their ages, 22 were confirmed as minors aged between 11 and 18, while five were identified as adults. The detained agents have been named as Jaichand, Ashish, and Sanjay. The rescued children reportedly hailed from the villages of Jhothari, Bedsa, Simalwara, and Mewada in the Dungarpur district.
The minors have been presented to the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), which has ordered their placement in a child care home.
The committee has also mandated authorities to pursue stringent legal action against the agents implicated in trafficking and illegal child labor. Further investigations are currently underway to uncover the network behind this trafficking attempt.
