Guwahati, Nov 2 (NationPress) In a dedicated effort to safeguard vulnerable travelers and tackle the issue of human trafficking, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) operating in the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) region successfully rescued 10 minors last week.
NFR’s Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) Kapinjal Kishore Sharma reported that between October 25 and 30, RPF personnel rescued a total of 10 minors (07 boys and 03 girls) from various stations within NFR jurisdiction.
All the rescued children were promptly handed over to Child Line authorities, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), their respective parents, and local law enforcement for necessary follow-up actions and rehabilitation.
On October 25, teams from RPF in Dimapur (Nagaland) and Chaparmukh (Assam) executed significant rescue operations, successfully recovering three runaway minors (two boys and one girl).
All rescued children were subsequently transferred to designated Childline authorities for secure custody and ongoing care.
From October 27 to October 30, RPF teams from Agartala, Dimapur, Kishanganj, and Alipurduar junction conducted major rescue operations.
During these efforts, three minor boys were rescued from Dimapur, two from Alipurduar junction, and one minor girl each from Agartala and Kishanganj stations.
All rescued minors were once again handed over to the designated Childline authorities.
The CPRO highlighted that under the “Meri Saheli” initiative, which is aimed at ensuring the safety and welfare of female passengers, especially those traveling alone, the dedicated female squads of the RPF have remained consistently vigilant.
Their ongoing efforts have greatly contributed to fostering a secure travel environment for women passengers throughout NFR.
The RPF of Northeast Frontier Railway continues to demonstrate its commitment to passenger safety through timely interventions, thorough patrolling, and various passenger-friendly initiatives, with a particular focus on the protection of women and children, Sharma stated.
The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) operates across the Northeastern states, seven districts in West Bengal, and five districts in North Bihar.
