Ranchi, March 27 (NationPress) A total of twenty-five children from Jharkhand, who were trafficked to Delhi and surrounding areas for illegal labor, have been successfully rescued. The majority of these children are girls.

A dedicated team from the Integrated Rehabilitation cum Resource Centre of Jharkhand’s Women and Child Development Department, based in Delhi, executed the rescue mission in collaboration with Delhi Police and various voluntary organizations.

The children, aged between 12 and 17 years, are currently being returned to Jharkhand.

This rescue operation was initiated under the guidance of Jharkhand Bhawan Resident Commissioner Arwa Rajkamal.

As per Nachiketa, Nodal Officer of the rehabilitation centre in Delhi, the operation gained momentum after Sahibganj police apprehended two human traffickers -- Poonam Marandi and Ishwar Turi -- earlier this month while they were attempting to transport three children from Sahibganj to Delhi. Their interrogation exposed the trafficking of numerous children from Jharkhand to the National Capital Region (NCR).

Using this information, Rahul Singh and Nirmala Khalkho, associated with the rehabilitation centre, managed to rescue 25 children from various areas in NCR, with the assistance of Delhi Police and local voluntary groups. The rescued children are from Sahibganj, Godda, and Khunti districts in Jharkhand.

A team led by Altaf Khan, the CDPO of Khunti, along with Poonam Kumari, the CDPO of Sahibganj, is accompanying the rescued children back to Jharkhand. They will receive counseling, and their home addresses will be verified before reuniting them with their families.

On the instructions of Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, Women and Child Development Secretary Manoj Kumar and Director Kiran Kumari Pasi have directed District Social Welfare Officers in the three districts to ensure the proper rehabilitation of the children under government welfare programs.

Authorities have urged the public to report any information related to human trafficking through the toll-free helpline 10582 of the Integrated Rehabilitation cum Resource Centre.
