New Delhi, March 2 (NationPress) Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday emphasized the government's unwavering dedication to eradicating drug trafficking, announcing that 29 drug traffickers have been convicted in 12 separate cases nationwide.
In a post on X, Shah stated, "The Modi government is relentless in penalizing drug traffickers who ensnare our youth in the dark abyss of addiction driven by greed. Thanks to a comprehensive investigation strategy, 29 drug traffickers have faced conviction in 12 cases across India."
Reaffirming the Centre's determination, he further noted, "We are committed to fighting the drug menace with ruthless and thorough investigations to cultivate a drug-free Bharat."
Measures to combat drug trafficking have been amplified throughout the nation, with both central and state governments taking significant actions.
During a recent review of the situation in Manipur, Shah also tackled the drug issue in the region. He asserted that drug cartels would be entirely dismantled to achieve a drug-free Manipur.
Moreover, he led a high-level meeting in Delhi, which included Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Minister Ashish Sood, where he ordered a decisive crackdown on the narcotics trade in the capital.
States have also escalated their anti-drug strategies. In Punjab, a statewide operation targeting drug traffickers resulted in the arrest of 290 smugglers, with over 750 locations raided and 232 FIRs filed.
Similarly, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Sukhu has initiated a six-month special mission to dismantle drug networks, directing the police to take stringent actions against drug peddlers and establishing a Special Task Force to enhance the crackdown.
