Bhopal, Feb 6 (NationPress) The Sports and Youth Welfare Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Vishwas Sarang, took aim at former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and head of the Samajwadi Party (SP), Akhilesh Yadav, for his assertion that the Election Commission of India (ECI) is 'dead'.
Sarang remarked that attributing blame to the ECI or other institutions has become a prevalent trend among the opposition when expressing their discontent following electoral defeats. He emphasized that Akhilesh Yadav should have refrained from making such statements.
“How could Akhilesh Yadav, his wife (Dimple Yadav), and other members of his party secure victories in the Lok Sabha if the ECI was not impartial? They raise questions when they lose, but remain silent when they win,” Sarang conveyed to IANS.
In his critique of the SP leader's comments regarding the ECI, the BJP minister pointed out that Akhilesh Yadav's father, Mulayam Singh Yadav, had previously commanded the firing at 'Karsevaks' in Ayodhya.
“Akhilesh Yadav belongs to a group of leaders who will challenge Sanatan Dharma and the Mahakumbh. During the tenure of the SP, Uttar Pradesh was infamous for corruption and 'gundaraj', but the BJP administration has successfully eradicated these criminals,” he added.
Earlier, SP leader Akhilesh Yadav had lambasted the ECI, stating, “The Election Commission is dead. We must present them with white cloth.”
Following the conclusion of by-elections in UP’s Milkipur on Wednesday, Akhilesh Yadav claimed that police were scrutinizing voter ID cards and called for the Election Commission to take action against the official involved in the incident.
However, the Ayodhya Police refuted the allegations made by the Samajwadi Party Chief, clarifying that the ID cards of booth agents were being checked, not those of voters, and urged the former Chief Minister to “stop making false claims.”
