A Moment of Pride for Congress and the Nation: Pawan Khera Reflects on Priyanka Gandhi's Oath as MP

New Delhi, Nov 28 (NationPress) Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera articulated his profound emotions and pride as Priyanka Gandhi officially took her oath as a Member of Parliament on Thursday. In a message shared on the social media platform X, Khera characterized the event as a moment of tremendous pride and motivation for the entire nation.
“Since our childhood, we have all witnessed on television how the members of the Gandhi family exhibited remarkable dignity during the tragic assassinations of Indira Ji and Rajiv Ji. While the entire country mourned, the Gandhi family, embodying a unique tradition of sacrificing everything for their nation, always placed the country’s needs above their personal sorrow,” Khera reminisced.
“When Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra took her oath as a Member of Parliament for the first time today, holding a copy of the Constitution in her hand, all those memories rushed back to me. This moment is an emotional occasion of pride and inspiration not just for the Congress family but for the whole nation,” he added.
Priyanka Gandhi was welcomed with exuberant cheers and chants of 'Bharat Jodo' as she affirmed her oath as a member of the Lok Sabha on Thursday.
She was accompanied by her mother Sonia Gandhi, brother Rahul Gandhi, and fellow Congress MPs upon her arrival at the Parliament House.
Her significant victory in the Wayanad bypoll marks not only her successful electoral debut but also a remarkable achievement for the family, as it is the first time three members of the Nehru-Gandhi family are concurrently serving in Parliament.
This milestone for Priyanka Gandhi signifies her political alignment with her mother and former Congress chief Sonia Gandhi and the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, both of whom are key figures in the historic party.
Her entry into electoral politics occurs two decades after she participated in campaigns for Sonia Gandhi in Raebareli and Rahul Gandhi in Amethi during the 2004 Lok Sabha elections.
