Priyanka Gandhi Promises to Stand by Wayanad Residents During Her First Visit Post-Election Victory

Malappuram (Kerala), Nov 30 (NationPress) Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra made her first visit to Wayanad on Saturday after securing her initial victory in the Lok Sabha elections from this Kerala constituency. She conveyed that this is just the start and she will always stand by the people who have shown her immense love and affection.
During her visits to four locations, she was greeted by a large crowd, a common sight each time she has come to the constituency, starting from when she filed her nomination.
At her final public event of the day, which commenced with a roadshow in Edavanna, she expressed her heartfelt gratitude for the affection received.
"I have come here for two days to express my thanks to all of you. No matter how often I say thank you, I know it’s insufficient. You supported my brother in his toughest moments, providing him with comfort and encouragement. I also thank him for believing in me and choosing me to represent you. He holds deep respect for all of you," Priyanka Gandhi stated.
"In our battle to safeguard our Constitution, the people of Wayanad have consistently stood for justice. Your persistent voice for the truth makes me proud and honored to be your representative," she added.
"I am determined to demonstrate how an MP should advocate for the people, and I am committed to raising your concerns in parliament and various platforms. Because of the love you have shown me, I will remain steadfast on my journey ahead," the Congress leader emphasized.
"We embark on this journey together, a journey brimming with mutual affection. I have encountered many individuals, including children, youth, and the elderly. This is merely the beginning; I aim to visit your homes, understand your challenges, and provide solutions," she shared.
Her agenda includes addressing gatherings at seven centers, one in each Assembly segment of the constituency covering the districts of Kozhikode, Malappuram, and Wayanad.
On Saturday, she completed her tour of the Kozhikode and Malappuram districts, and on Sunday, she will speak at meetings in Wayanad, Sulthan Bathery, and Mananthavady Assembly constituencies before returning to Delhi.
She is accompanied by her brother, Rahul Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, who also addressed the gatherings.
Upon her arrival at Kozhikode airport earlier, Priyanka Gandhi expressed her delight at being back.
"I am truly happy to return and eager to start working for the people of Wayanad to enhance their quality of life," she remarked.
Priyanka Gandhi triumphed in the Wayanad Lok Sabha bypoll with an impressive margin of 410,931 votes.
Interestingly, she surpassed her brother Rahul Gandhi’s victory margin of 360,000 votes from the April Lok Sabha elections, although it was less than his margin of 430,000 votes in the 2019 elections. The bypoll was called after Rahul Gandhi vacated the seat earlier this year to retain the family's stronghold in Rae Bareli, UP.
Throughout the campaign, the central question was whether Priyanka Gandhi could exceed her brother’s record-breaking margin. Her victory signifies a crucial milestone in her political career, nearly 20 years after she first campaigned for her mother, Sonia Gandhi, in Rae Bareli and for her brother in Amethi during the 2004 Lok Sabha elections.
Her emergence as an elected representative is viewed as a significant move to strengthen the Congress presence in Kerala and reinvigorate the party's prospects at the national level.
