Kalpetta, Oct 29 (NationPress) Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the MP representing Wayanad, is set to visit her constituency starting Thursday for a two-day engagement that will include a variety of public events throughout the Wayanad and Malappuram districts.
Exactly a year ago, around this time, the Congress leader submitted her nomination papers following her brother and former Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi’s decision to keep his Raebareli Lok Sabha seat.
Priyanka Gandhi achieved a significant win in the November 2024 Wayanad by-election, garnering over 400,000 votes.
Since that victory, she has consistently showcased her active involvement in her constituency, which includes areas from Wayanad, Malappuram, and Kozhikode.
During her recent ten-day visit earlier this month, the Congress leader traveled extensively within the constituency, engaging with locals, farmers, athletes, students, and representatives from various sectors.
According to party officials, the upcoming visit serves as a follow-up to that outreach initiative.
"This trip is essentially a continuation of her previous tour," remarked I.C. Balakrishnan, a senior Congress leader and MLA from Sulthan Bathery.
"Priyanka Gandhi will cover numerous areas in Wayanad and Malappuram. In my constituency, she will inaugurate a statue of Mahatma Gandhi and participate in public events in Kalpetta and its surrounding regions."
Her schedule reportedly includes meetings with local community organizations, self-help women's groups, and youth representatives.
This visit is anticipated to further deepen her rapport with voters as she works to solidify her position as a proactive parliamentarian.
Priyanka Gandhi, who assumed office as the Wayanad MP last year, has made multiple visits aimed at addressing constituency challenges including infrastructure, agrarian issues, and environmental concerns impacting the hill district.
The two-day engagement is expected to wrap up by Friday evening.
Recently, Priyanka Gandhi criticized the central government for failing to waive loans for victims of the Wayanad landslide.
