Priyanka Expresses Deep Gratitude to Wayanad Residents During First Visit Post-Election Victory

Malappuram (Kerala), Nov 30 (NationPress) Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra made her first visit to Wayanad on Saturday following her victory in the Lok Sabha elections from this Kerala constituency. She affirmed her commitment to the residents who have shown her abundant love, affection, and support, vowing to advocate for them both in Parliament and other platforms.

During her visits to four locations, she was met with a large crowd, a common occurrence since she filed her nomination.

At her final public gathering of the day, which commenced with a roadshow in Edavanna, she began her speech by acknowledging the people for their overwhelming support, stating, "I wish to express my heartfelt thanks for the love and affection you have extended to me."

"I dedicated two days to tour my constituency to convey my gratitude to all of you. No matter how often I express my thanks, it will never suffice. You stood by my brother during his toughest times, providing him with support and comfort. I also thank him for believing in me and selecting me to represent you. He holds great respect for each of you," Priyanka Gandhi remarked.

"In the battle to defend our Constitution, the people of Wayanad have consistently championed what is right. Your voices have risen repeatedly for the truth, and I am both proud and honored to serve as your representative," she added.

She emphasized the crucial role of constitutional values in shaping India, stating that the struggle of the Congress and UDF is the "struggle for the constitution and the essence of India."

"It is a fight for equality for every Indian citizen... a battle to fortify the institutions that uphold our constitution and sustain our democracy... a struggle of truth against falsehood... unity against division... and equal opportunities for all," she articulated.

Priyanka Gandhi reassured the community that she would demonstrate what it means to be a dedicated MP, committing herself to work tirelessly to amplify their voices in Parliament and at all other venues.

"Because of the love you have shown me, I will remain steadfast on my path forward. We embark on this journey together, filled with love from both sides. I have encountered many individuals, including children, youth, and elders. This marks just the beginning; I aim to visit your homes, understand your issues, and find solutions," she stated, focusing on the challenges faced by tribal communities, farmers, entrepreneurs, shopkeepers, children, students, and soccer players.

"I will work diligently to grasp your dreams and aspirations," she pledged.

Priyanka Gandhi's agenda includes addressing gatherings at seven locations, one in each Assembly segment of the constituency, which covers the districts of Kozhikode, Malappuram, and Wayanad.

On Saturday, she concluded her tour of Kozhikode and Malappuram and will address meetings in the Wayanad, Sulthan Bathery, and Mananthavady Assembly constituencies on Sunday before returning to Delhi.

Her brother and the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, is accompanying her and has also participated in the meetings.

Upon her arrival at the Kozhikode airport, Priyanka Gandhi expressed her joy in returning, stating, "I am genuinely excited to be back and ready to begin working for the welfare of the people of Wayanad to enhance their quality of life."

Priyanka Gandhi triumphed in the Wayanad Lok Sabha by-election with a significant margin of 410,931 votes.

Notably, she exceeded the victory margin of 360,000 votes that her brother, Rahul Gandhi, achieved in the April Lok Sabha elections, although it was less than his margin of 430,000 votes from the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. The by-election was called after Rahul Gandhi vacated the seat earlier this year to retain the family's constituency of Rae Bareli in UP.

Her initial tenure as an elected representative is viewed as a vital move to strengthen the Congress' presence in Kerala and rejuvenate the party's prospects nationwide.
