A Significant Day for Development in Delhi: PM Modi

New Delhi, January 3 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to launch an array of development initiatives, which include 1,675 flats for the JJ cluster residents and two urban redevelopment projects in the national capital on Friday.

In a message shared on his X account, PM Modi expressed that this day is crucial for the progress of Delhi.

"Today is a significant day for the advancement of Delhi. During an event in Ashok Vihar, I will be inaugurating and laying the foundation stones for a variety of projects aimed at enhancing the 'Ease of Living' for the residents of Delhi," he stated.

He highlighted that these development activities are designed to foster future generations. "These initiatives exemplify our steadfast dedication to empowering future generations with knowledge, innovation, and opportunities in an environment that fosters growth and learning," he remarked.

PM Modi further noted, "The projects consist of a state-of-the-art academic block at the Eastern Campus in Surajmal Vihar, East Delhi, along with another at the Western Campus in Dwarka. Additionally, the foundation will be laid for the Veer Savarkar College in Roshanpura, Najafgarh, designed to exemplify excellence in education with modern facilities."

As per a government press release, these actions align with the PM's commitment to 'Housing for All'.

PM Modi will visit the newly built flats for the residents of the Jhuggi Jhopri (JJ) clusters under the In-Situ Slum Rehabilitation Project at Swabhiman Apartments, Ashok Vihar, Delhi, around 12:10 p.m. Following this, at approximately 12:45 p.m., he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for several development projects in Delhi.

The Prime Minister will unveil the 1,675 newly constructed flats for the inhabitants of the JJ clusters and will hand over keys to eligible beneficiaries at Swabhiman Apartments in Ashok Vihar.

The inauguration of the newly constructed flats will celebrate the successful completion of the second In-Situ Slum Rehabilitation Project by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA). This initiative aims to offer residents of the JJ clusters in Delhi a superior and healthier living environment equipped with essential amenities and services.

For every Rs 25 lakh allocated for constructing a flat by the government, eligible beneficiaries contribute less than 7 percent of the total cost, which includes Rs 1.42 lakh as a nominal fee and Rs 30,000 for five years of maintenance.

Additionally, PM Modi will inaugurate two urban redevelopment projects—the World Trade Centre (WTC) at Nauroji Nagar and the General Pool Residential Accommodation (GPRA) Type-II Quarters at Sarojini Nagar.

The World Trade Centre at Nauroji Nagar has revitalized the area by replacing over 600 dilapidated quarters with modern commercial towers, providing approximately 34 lakh square feet of premium commercial space equipped with advanced amenities. The project adheres to green building practices, including a zero-discharge concept, solar energy generation, and rainwater harvesting systems.

The GPRA Type-II Quarters at Sarojini Nagar comprise 28 towers housing over 2,500 residential units, offering contemporary amenities and efficient space utilization. The design incorporates rainwater harvesting systems, sewage and water treatment plants, and solar-powered waste compactors promoting eco-friendly living.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the CBSE's Integrated Office Complex at Dwarka, Delhi, which was constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 300 crore. This facility includes offices, an auditorium, a modern data centre, and a comprehensive water management system, among other features.

This eco-friendly building has been built to meet high environmental standards and has been designed according to the Platinum Rating criteria of the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC).

Finally, PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for three new projects at Delhi University, amounting to over Rs 600 crore. This includes the Eastern Campus in Surajmal Vihar, the Western Campus in Dwarka, and the establishment of Veer Savarkar College in Roshanpura, Najafgarh, featuring state-of-the-art educational facilities.
