New Delhi, Jan 23 (NationPress) Md Ruhul Amin Fakir, the father of Mohammed Shariful Islam, who is accused in the recent incident involving Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan, shared his perspective during an exclusive interview with IANS on Thursday. He defended his son, questioning the credibility of the allegations against him. Fakir maintained that his son is innocently accused in this matter.
According to Fakir, the CCTV footage depicting a suspect with long hair does not align with his son’s typical look. "Based on the CCTV images... my son never styles his hair long. I genuinely believe my son is being framed," Fakir stated, refuting any resemblance between his son's appearance and the individual captured in the footage.
Shariful, originally from Bangladesh, relocated to India due to the political turmoil in his home nation.
Responding to a query from IANS, Fakir elaborated: "He departed from Bangladesh and came to India for a singular reason — the political instability there... He had a job that paid him well, and his employer even recognized his efforts..."
Fakir elaborated on his son's experiences in India, portraying him as a man striving to earn a living in an unfamiliar environment.
"The wages in Mumbai's hotels surpass those in West Bengal. The hotels are quite substantial, and the pay is also superior," Fakir pointed out, indicating that Shariful sought better employment opportunities in Mumbai's hospitality sector.
Despite the serious nature of the accusations against his son, Fakir claims he has not received any notification from the police.
When asked if he had been contacted by the local authorities, he replied: "No, nothing of that sort has occurred. No one has reached out to us. We do not have any connections in India. We lack support here."
Fakir reminisced about his last conversation with Shariful, recalling their regular communications.
"I last spoke with my son on a Friday evening," he shared. "He (Shariful) would receive his salary after the 10th of each month... He would call me afterward."
