Chennai, May 22 (NationPress) The Deputy Leader of the Opposition and former minister R.B. Udhayakumar has launched a fierce critique against Tamil Nadu Law Minister S. Regupathy for his comments regarding AIADMK General Secretary and Leader of the Opposition, Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS), on Thursday.
In a pointed statement, Udhayakumar labeled Regupathy as “the epitome of hypocrisy” and accused him of forsaking the political principles that have defined his career.
“It is ironic that a person who has built his political career on a movement is now disparaging its leaders to appease his current benefactors,” he remarked.
The AIADMK leader further claimed that Regupathy had allied with an “evil force” solely for self-serving reasons and was now attacking EPS to gain favor with the ruling establishment.
Udhayakumar also asserted that constituents in Regupathy’s own area were aware of the wealth he has allegedly amassed over time.
Turning his ire towards Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, Udhayakumar accused him of dodging inquiries raised by the Opposition leader concerning his recent visit to New Delhi for the NITI Aayog meeting.
“Instead of providing direct answers, the Chief Minister hid behind a defector and let him speak on his behalf,” he charged, not naming the person involved.
Udhayakumar reiterated Palaniswami’s concerns, stating that Stalin’s trip to the capital was not for the benefit of Tamil Nadu’s populace but rather a strategy to protect his son and Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, along with their close associates.
“It was largely about shielding his family and inner circle rather than addressing the state’s issues,” he claimed.
In concluding his remarks, Udhayakumar emphasized that the citizens of Tamil Nadu were keenly observing the government’s actions and would soon make a decisive choice.
“This administration's time is limited. The people will soon topple this government and restore democracy,” he stated.
The ongoing criticism from the AIADMK comes amidst escalating political tensions between the ruling DMK and the Opposition concerning governance, corruption, and accountability.
