Ajit Pawar Promises Action Following Attack on Marathi Family in Kalyan

Nagpur, Dec 20 (NationPress) Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar declared on Friday that the incident involving the attack on a Marathi family in Kalyan will be thoroughly investigated, promising decisive action against the perpetrator, no matter their status.

During the Assembly session, Shiv Sena-UBT legislator Sunil Prabhu brought the matter to light, demanding accountability for the accused.

In response, Pawar stated: "Regardless of how senior the accused officer may be, appropriate action will be enforced. The dignity of the Marathi community will be upheld across the state. The administration will act swiftly against the individual responsible."

Prabhu further highlighted that a Marathi individual was brutally assaulted by a person named Akhilesh Shukla in a society located in the Yogidham area of Kalyan.

"Who is orchestrating this serious attack on a Marathi family in Kalyan? Are such incidents going to become a daily occurrence in Maharashtra?" Prabhu questioned.

Shukla allegedly claimed to have connections with influential figures and seemed unconcerned about police repercussions, Prabhu added.

Prabhu noted that Shukla presented himself as a government official, asserting that he was unfazed by any potential action taken against him.

Other opposition members rallied behind Prabhu's call for tough measures, emphasizing the necessity to thwart attempts to create divisions between Marathi and non-Marathi communities and to prevent clashes similar to those in Kalyan.

The matter of the Kalyan attack was also raised by the opposition outside the state legislature.

NCP-SP legislator Rohit Pawar condemned the incident, questioning whether such attacks would become a routine occurrence.

Shiv Sena-UBT's Aaditya Thackeray urged that charges under the Sedition Law be filed against those perpetrating violence against Marathi individuals.

"Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis should make a statement regarding this today. Additionally, the occupation certificates of housing societies where such attacks against Marathi people occur should be revoked," he insisted.

"If the Chief Minister truly values Maharashtra and is rooted in this land, he will heed our demand and announce actions under the sedition law against those attacking Marathi individuals. Builders are altering the names of various regions, renaming them to Upper Cuffe Parade and Upper Worli," he added.

Shiv Sena-UBT MP Sanjay Raut remarked that similar incidents have transpired not only in Kalyan but also in Mumbai. "I have repeatedly pointed out that in Kalyan, migrants have assaulted Marathi individuals, labeling them as dirty. They have insulted them. In Mumbai, Marathi people are being denied job opportunities under the pretext of not speaking Marathi," Raut asserted.

"In Maharashtra, Shiv Sena founder Balasaheb Thackeray fought for the rights of the Marathi populace. The BJP has weakened the Marathi community by dismantling their organization, relegating them to a secondary status. Following the election results, attacks against Marathi people have surged. Efforts are underway to marginalize Marathi individuals from Mumbai," Raut alleged.
