Is Mamata Banerjee Politicizing Ajit Pawar’s Death?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Mumbai, Jan 29 (NationPress) Shiv Sena leader Shaina NC has criticized West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for suggesting a conspiracy surrounding the passing of Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister and NCP chief Ajit Pawar, calling on her and others to stop politicizing the tragedy of someone's death.
In a statement to the press following Ajit Pawar's unexpected death, Banerjee alleged that he was about to leave the NDA and intended to return to the opposition's INDIA bloc.
Shaina NC remarked to IANS that such comments were 'inappropriate and insensitive,' warning against exploiting this unfortunate event for political gain.
“Mamata Banerjee, please refrain from engaging in politics over someone's death. While it may seem like a political matter to you, it represents a shocking loss for the country where a senior leader has passed away. He was in Baramati for work. While a technical failure is a possibility and warrants investigation, labeling it as a conspiracy is inappropriate. This isn't the script of a B-grade film. If you can't express sympathy, then kindly hold back from making such remarks,” she stated.
She further noted that NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar has already clarified that there was no conspiracy involved.
“Sharad Pawar has affirmed that it was a technical failure. Clarity will emerge in the coming days. Those attempting to politicize this tragedy should remember that death is not a gift; it often reflects fate,” Shaina NC added.
Reflecting on Ajit Pawar's extensive political journey, she acknowledged his nearly five decades of service to the public in Maharashtra.
“Ajit Pawar dedicated close to 50 years to Maharashtra politics. He began his journey as an MLA from Baramati, served as Finance Minister and Irrigation Minister, and held the position of Deputy Chief Minister six times. Tragically, he passed away at the age of 66 years, six months, and six days. If we speak of a capable administrator, Ajit Pawar ‘Dada’ will always be remembered as one,” she asserted.
Shaina NC also emphasized the significant gap his death has created in the political landscape of the state.
“He worked relentlessly for Baramati and Maharashtra. The void left by his passing will be profoundly felt. Alongside leaders such as Eknath Shinde and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, he was pivotal, and his absence represents a substantial loss to Maharashtra politics,” she remarked.
She concluded by noting that Ajit Pawar was not just a mass leader but also a reachable administrator.
“One of his most exceptional traits was that every morning from 6 am to 7:30 am, his OPD ward was open for people to bring forth their problems. He listened attentively and worked diligently to resolve their concerns, consistently dedicating his time to public service,” she added.
