New Delhi, Jan 28 (NationPress) In response to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s insinuations of a conspiracy surrounding the tragic air crash that resulted in the death of Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, BJP Delhi President Virendra Sachdeva condemned her remarks on Wednesday. He questioned how low she was willing to stoop in politics. Banerjee had demanded a Supreme Court-monitored inquiry into the incident that took the life of the senior NCP leader.
During an interview with IANS, Sachdeva remarked that such comments during a period of mourning were deeply inappropriate.
“The nature of Mamata Banerjee’s comments leads me to believe she should reflect on how far she intends to stoop in political discourse and what kind of statements she wishes to make. It is disheartening to see such a tragic event exploited for political gain, especially during a time of grief,” he stated.
Sachdeva further expressed his sorrow regarding Ajit Pawar's passing, labeling it a significant loss for both Maharashtra and Indian politics.
“This is indeed a very tragic situation for Indian politics, particularly for Maharashtra. Ajit Dada was a well-respected leader who served the state with unwavering commitment. He also held the position of Chief Minister of Maharashtra,” he added.
Calling the loss irreparable, Sachdeva remarked, “It is an immense loss for Maharashtra. I pray that God grants strength to Ajit Pawar’s family to endure this tremendous grief during such a challenging time.”
Meanwhile, on her way to a governmental event in Singur, CM Banerjee claimed that Ajit Pawar was likely to exit the NDA and had been considering a return to the Opposition's INDIA bloc.
Banerjee expressed her lack of faith in Central investigative agencies to conduct a fair inquiry, asserting that only a Supreme Court-supervised investigation could uncover the truth.
“The Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister perished in a plane crash this morning. I am utterly shocked at this news. It raises serious concerns regarding the safety and security of individuals in our country, including political leaders. I am uncertain about the future of Opposition parties. He was aligned with the ruling party, but I recently learned through social media that someone from another party claimed Ajit Pawar was considering leaving the BJP-led NDA,” stated Banerjee.
She further emphasized, “What transpired today warrants a thorough investigation under the auspices of the Supreme Court. We have faith only in the Supreme Court, and not in any other agency, as all agencies appear to be compromised. This is a significant loss for the nation.”
