Kolkata, June 18 (NationPress) The Chief of BJP's IT Cell and central observer for West Bengal, Amit Malviya, on Wednesday condemned Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for seemingly deriving pleasure from mocking national tragedies, such as the recent plane crash in Ahmedabad that resulted in the loss of almost all passengers except one.
Malviya highlighted a comment made by the Chief Minister earlier, where she likened the Ahmedabad crash due to dual engine failure to the notion of "double-engine governments" in states governed by the BJP.
"How cruel can Mamata Banerjee be? What kind of a person finds humor in a devastating plane crash just to gain political advantage? Today, Mamata Banerjee revealed her most vicious political nature. By comparing the tragic Ahmedabad incident, where both engines failed and lives were lost, to the 'Double Engine Government,' it seems as if she is wishing for it to crash and burn," Malviya expressed in a statement shared on his official X account.
He questioned what kind of leaders would take delight in a national tragedy, also pondering why the Chief Minister appeared to smirk at the tragic loss of lives in Ahmedabad.
"Is there anything more shameless that someone in a constitutional role can say? Politics has its boundaries. Humanity should never be compromised. Mamata Banerjee has crossed a line—this callous mockery of tragedy will not be forgotten by India," he stated.
In another statement on the same day, Malviya referred to the interim halt on the publication of West Bengal's revised Other Backward Classes (OBC) list, which a division bench of the Calcutta High Court imposed until July 31.
"The Trinamool Congress government and Mamata Banerjee either believe they are exceptionally clever, think they are above Indian law, or are intentionally trying to mislead the Muslim community by offering OBC reservation as a lure," he concluded in his remarks.
