Jammu, March 5 (NationPress) The annual pilgrimage to the Amarnath Cave shrine in J&K is scheduled to commence on July 3 and will conclude on August 9, aligning with the Raksha Bandhan festival.

The Lt Governor of J&K, Manoj Sinha, led the 48th Board meeting of the Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board (SASB) at Raj Bhawan on Wednesday.

“This year, the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra will kick off on 3rd July from both the Pahalgam route in the Anantnag district and the Baltal route in the Ganderbal district, culminating on 9th August 2025 during Raksha Bandhan,” stated SASB.

Attendees of the meeting included Swami Avdheshanand Giri Ji Maharaj, D. C. Raina, Kailash Mehra Sadhu, K. N. Rai, Pitambar Lal Gupta, Shailesh Raina, and Prof Vishwamurti Shastri, members of the Shrine Board.

The Board has recommended several measures to enhance facilities and services for the pilgrims.

In light of the anticipated surge in pilgrims for the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2025, the meeting addressed strategies to boost lodging capacity at centers in Jammu, Srinagar, and other areas, including the operationalization of Yatri facilitation centers for e-KYC, issuance of RFID cards, and on-the-spot registration at various locations such as Nowgam and Katra Railway Stations.

Additionally, enhancements to facilities at Baltal, Pahalgam, Nunwan, and Pantha Chowk Srinagar were discussed to meet the needs of the pilgrims.

The Lt Governor emphasized the importance of ensuring adequate arrangements and essential amenities along the Yatra route by reviewing progress on various ongoing projects.

He also called for an increase in capacity at Yatri Niwas, Pantha Chowk, Srinagar.

The meeting further evaluated ongoing projects, dissemination of Yatra-related information, insurance coverage for yatries and service providers, expansion of online services by the Shrine Board, maintenance of Yatra tracks, congestion management at the Holy Cave and Lower Holy Cave areas, disaster preparedness measures, provision of heli services, medical facilities, weather forecasting systems, security, and a digital pre-paid system for service hiring.

During the meeting, the Lt Governor honored the Board Members for their significant contributions and ongoing support in the successful organization of the Yatra.

Dr Mandeep K. Bhandari, Chief Executive Officer of the Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board, provided a comprehensive overview of arrangements for the Yatra.

Key officials, including Atal Dulloo, Chief Secretary; Shaleen Kabra, Additional Chief Secretary, Jal Shakti Department; Nalin Prabhat, DGP; Chandraker Bharti, Principal Secretary Home; Administrative Secretaries; Divisional Commissioners of Jammu and Kashmir; Deputy Commissioners of Ganderbal and Anantnag; Additional CEO SASB, and senior officials from the UT Administration and Shrine Board, participated in the meeting both in person and virtually.
