New Delhi, June 12 (NationPress) Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday emphasized the milestones of the Modi government's digital revolution over the last 11 years, showcasing the improvements in living standards and the economic growth realized during the 'India's Techade'.
He attributed the government's foresight in technology-driven development that has reshaped society and transformed every facet of the economy.
"The Modi government has made technology accessible to all and leveraged its capabilities for the business sector, positioning Bharat as a frontrunner in the global digital economy during the #11YearsOfDigitalIndia. From healthcare to education, trade to commerce, PM Shri @narendramodi Ji has revolutionized each sector through this digital transformation," stated Union Minister Shah in a post on the social media platform X.
In his message, the Home Minister shared a digital graphic titled 'Big Picture - India's Techade', which outlines the government's achievements, including the launch of foreign satellites and the significant increase in internet users and mobile subscribers.
His post highlighted the remarkable digital advancements made by the government, as evidenced by 2.18 lakh gram panchayats receiving an optical fibre connection and Rs 44 lakh crore disbursed to the underprivileged through the direct benefit transfer (DBT) scheme over the past 11 years.
He noted that over 37 crore patients utilized digital consultations under the eSanjeevani scheme, more than 52 crore individuals registered on 'DigiLocker', and 8 crore users availed themselves of the UMANG platform for government services, with the number of internet users soaring by 285 percent during this period.
Highlighting advancements in the telecommunications sector, Shah reported that the number of mobile subscribers has reached 116 crore, while the cost per GB of data plummeted from Rs 308 to Rs 9.34 throughout India's Techade.
The Home Minister also elaborated on the government’s achievement of laying 6.93 lakh km of optical fibre cable under Bharat Net.
Regarding the economic impact of the digital revolution, HM Shah stated that 49 percent of the global real-time digital transactions are conducted in India.
On the GeM portal, orders worth over Rs 13 lakh crore have been placed on the platform until March 2025, he informed.
The Home Minister also mentioned that in the last 11 years, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has successfully launched 393 foreign satellites.
