Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 11 (NationPress) Union Home Minister Amit Shah will officially kick off the Bharatiya Janata Party's campaign in Kerala for the forthcoming Assembly elections on Sunday.

The prominent BJP leader arrived at the Thiruvananthapuram International Airport via a special aircraft on Saturday night and is slated to engage in various political, organizational, and religious activities in the state's capital.

As per the official schedule, Amit Shah will start his day with a visit to the historic Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple, where he intends to offer special prayers. After the temple visit, the Home Minister will meet newly elected Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) representatives from local self-governments. This interaction aims to enhance the party’s grassroots organizational structure ahead of the elections.

HM Shah will then address the BJP's elected representatives’ conference at Kowdiar. This meeting will concentrate on election preparedness, booth-level coordination, and constituency-specific strategies.

In the afternoon, he will participate in the party's state core committee meeting, which is expected to examine crucial political and electoral issues in depth.

Senior BJP figures, such as Rajeev Chandrasekhar, V. Muraleedharan, K. Surendran, and Shobha Surendran, will take part in these discussions. Party insiders revealed that candidate selection for constituencies classified as A Plus and A categories, deemed vital for expanding the BJP's electoral reach in Kerala, will be a topic of conversation.

Furthermore, discussions regarding seat-sharing arrangements among NDA partners are anticipated during HM Shah’s discussions with alliance leaders later in the evening.

He previously mentioned that Amit Shah’s visit would officially commence the NDA’s electoral campaign activities in Kerala. The visit's political relevance is heightened due to the recent arrest of chief priest Kandararu Rajeevaru linked to the Sabarimala gold theft case. Sources suggest that the potential for a central agency investigation into this incident may also be discussed during the party's internal meetings.

In light of the Home Minister’s visit, the Thiruvananthapuram city police have implemented extensive traffic restrictions across major areas of the capital from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Parking will be banned on several key roads, and vehicles breaching these restrictions will be towed. Authorities have urged travelers heading to the airport and railway stations to plan their trips ahead to avoid any inconvenience.
