Gandhinagar, Feb 17 (NationPress) Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah presided over a significant 'Manthan Baithak' in Gujarat's Gandhinagar on Tuesday, gathering Cooperation Ministers from every state and Union Territory to bolster the cooperative sector and promote rural economic development throughout the nation.
The inaugural session saw the participation of Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Assembly Speaker Shankar Chaudhary, Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi, and other key state officials.
During this event, Amit Shah e-inaugurated and laid the groundwork for cooperative initiatives in Gujarat valued at a total of Rs 265.30 crore.
These projects encompassed a Rs 40 crore ethanol distillery, a Rs 135 crore 30-megawatt power co-generation facility, and an Rs 8 crore organic potash plant, all established by the Shri Narmada Khand Udyog Sahakari Mandali in Nandod within the Narmada district.
Amul, managed by the Kaira District Co-operative Milk Producers' Union, also launched projects at Khatraj in the Anand district, including a Rs 40 crore warehouse and a Rs 35 crore whey protein concentration powder plant.
Foundation stones were laid for substantial warehouses at Savarkundla Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) in Amreli for Rs 3.67 crore and at Patan APMC for Rs 3.63 crore.
A report highlighting best practices in the cooperative sector across various states was published, alongside a focus on the forthcoming International Year of Cooperatives-2025.
A concurrent exhibition at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar displayed advanced services and products from 20 leading organizations like the National Dairy Development Board, Amul, Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited, and Banas Dairy.
National bodies such as the National Fisheries Development Board, National Cooperative Exports Limited, Bharatiya Beej Sahakari Samiti Limited, and National Cooperative Organics Limited participated, with 78 representatives attending.
Special stalls promoting natural farming and organic products were also showcased.
The primary goal of this meeting was to further enhance the country's cooperative framework, boost the rural economy, and double farmers' income through cooperative societies.
Throughout the day-long discussions, the participating Ministers engaged in extensive deliberations regarding technology utilization and increasing transparency in the cooperative sector.
