New Delhi, Dec 26 (NationPress) On Friday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah declared that the government intends to appoint a senior interlocutor shortly to address the concerns of the Rabha, Mising, and Tiwa tribal communities in Assam.

During a meeting with representatives from these communities and the Chief Minister of Assam, the Union Minister provided this assurance, as reported by an official.

In a post on X, HM Shah stated, “I met with the delegations from the Rabha, Mising, and Tiwa communities of Assam alongside CM Shri @himantabiswaJi. I listened to their requests and assured them that their valid concerns will be addressed. The Ministry of Home Affairs will soon designate a senior official to facilitate a constructive and lasting resolution.”

The three communities have been advocating for constitutional recognition for their autonomous councils, and the meeting included HM Shah, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, and state Cabinet Minister Ranoj Pegu.

CM Sarma expressed his gratitude on X, stating, “I sincerely thank the Honorable Union Home Minister Shri @AmitShahji for engaging with the delegations of the Rabha, Mising, and Tiwa communities, who have long sought constitutional status for their respective Autonomous Councils.”

“The commitment made by the Home Minister to appoint an interlocutor and commence an institutional dialogue is profoundly reassuring and uplifting. It exemplifies the Government of India’s dedication to inclusive governance, dialogue, and safeguarding the constitutional aspirations of Assam’s indigenous populations,” remarked the Chief Minister.

In other news, Chief Minister Sarma revealed that HM Shah is set to inaugurate the Jyoti Bishnu Prekhyagriha, the largest auditorium in the Northeast with a capacity for 5,000 attendees, during his upcoming visit on December 29, adding a significant cultural asset to the state.

CM Sarma noted that this auditorium was constructed in record time and named after two luminaries of Assam's cultural scene - Jyotiprasad Agarwala and Bishnu Prasad Rabha.

He described the project as a salute to the state's rich artistic and cultural heritage and a crucial advancement in enhancing cultural spaces within the region.

The Jyoti Bishnu Prekhyagriha is intended to accommodate large-scale cultural events, performances, conferences, and public programs, aiming to become a landmark venue not just for Assam but for the entire Northeast.

Officials highlighted that this state-of-the-art auditorium will provide a dedicated stage for artists, cultural groups, and institutions, further elevating Assam’s status as a cultural hub.

The inauguration is anticipated to be one of the highlight events during HM Shah's visit to Assam, which is expected to feature a series of official activities.

This visit by the Home Minister follows several significant central initiatives in the state, demonstrating the Centre's ongoing emphasis on Assam's development and its integration with national growth objectives.

Chief Minister Sarma emphasized that naming the auditorium after Jyotiprasad Agarwala, acknowledged as the father of Assamese cinema and a pioneering cultural figure, alongside Bishnu Prasad Rabha, a revolutionary artist, musician, and thinker, signifies Assam’s profound respect for its cultural icons.
