Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday, 25 September 2026, jointly inaugurated the fourth edition of the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show (UPITS) 2026 at the India Expo Centre and Mart in Greater Noida. CM Yogi described the annual event as an increasingly significant platform for products manufactured across the state, noting that over the past four years it had evolved into a premier showcase for Uttar Pradesh's industrial and artisanal diversity.

A Platform Four Years in the Making

Addressing the gathering, CM Yogi underscored the show's growing stature. 'This is a platform that, for the last four years, has continuously provided a platform for every product manufactured in Uttar Pradesh. It has become an excellent centre for showcasing these products,' he said. The fourth edition features products and enterprises associated with Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), the One District One Product (ODOP) initiative, and the One District One Cuisine programme.

The Chief Minister credited the ODOP initiative with giving traditional crafts a distinct commercial identity. 'We gave this traditional enterprise a brand in the form of One District One Product, and today Uttar Pradesh has rapidly emerged not only in the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises sector but also as a new manufacturing hub,' Yogi said. He added that the state is now exporting goods worth more than ₹2 lakh crore to global markets.

Amit Shah's Address: Deendayal Upadhyaya Connection

Home Minister Amit Shah, who attended as chief guest, drew attention to the significance of the chosen date. 'Today is September 25. I do not know what CM Yogi had in mind when he decided on this date, but in a way, September 25 has become closely associated with this programme,' Shah said, noting that the date marks the 110th birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya. Shah described Upadhyaya as 'the leader who, for the first time after Independence, presented the concept of free trade and free agriculture — an economic policy based on free trade and free agriculture — before the country.'

Shah also extended a welcome to Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, state ministers, elected representatives, and participants from across India and the world.

International Participation and Scale

CM Yogi welcomed ambassadors and high commissioners of Japan, Singapore, and Belarus, who are participating as partner countries, along with foreign buyers and exhibitors from 90 countries. UPITS 2026 is expected to draw more than 2,400 exhibitors, over 1,50,000 business-to-business buyers and visitors, over 4,50,000 general visitors, and over 550 international buyers. The event runs from 25 to 29 September at the India Expo Centre and Mart.

Sectors on Display

The show spans more than two dozen sectors including agriculture, automobiles and electric vehicles, defence, electronics and e-commerce, information technology, food processing, handloom and handicrafts, health and Ayush, infrastructure, leather, tourism, renewable energy, logistics, and financial services, among others. The breadth reflects an intent to position Uttar Pradesh as a comprehensive industrial destination rather than a single-sector showcase.

Reviving the Artisan Economy

CM Yogi also addressed the structural challenges facing traditional craftspeople. 'For a long time, our artisans did not receive the resources, proper direction, support, markets and platforms they needed. When an artisan's livelihood becomes weak, the next generation does not see their traditional skills as a secure future,' he said. He warned that without sustained intervention, younger generations risk losing their connection to local skills and heritage — a concern that the ODOP and UPITS frameworks are explicitly designed to counter.

With four consecutive editions now complete, UPITS has established itself as a fixed date on India's trade-show calendar, and the government is expected to announce further expansions of international partnerships ahead of the 2027 edition.
