Amaravati, Feb 25 (NationPress) The Andhra Pradesh government has declared a compensation of Rs.10 lakh for each family of the three devotees who were tragically killed by a herd of wild elephants in the Annamayya district during the early hours of Tuesday.
Additionally, Rs.5 lakh has been awarded to the two individuals who sustained injuries during this unfortunate incident.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan expressed their dismay over the event, which took place in a forested area near Gondalakona in Obulavaripalle mandal.
A group of devotees heading to a local temple for the Mahashivratri festivities around 2 a.m. was attacked by the wild elephants.
The three devotees from Y. Kota died on the spot, while two others were critically injured and transported to a hospital where they remain in serious condition.
The Chief Minister has instructed officials to provide the injured with the highest quality of medical attention and has promised to assist the victims' families.
