The Chief Minister instructed that financial aid of Rs 4 lakh be granted to the next of kin of those who lost their lives in the accident, along with Rs 1 lakh each to seriously injured individuals, and Rs 50,000 for those with minor injuries, as stated on his social media account on Tuesday morning.
This devastating accident transpired on the National Highway near Jawaharpura village in Bhind district, resulting in five fatalities and injuring more than a dozen individuals. A police representative reported that the incident unfolded early Tuesday morning between 5 and 6 a.m.
The victims were returning from a wedding ceremony when a high-speed dumper collided with their parked vehicle, leading to the immediate deaths of three individuals and leaving eight others critically injured. Two additional victims later succumbed to their injuries, while the injured were hospitalized for treatment.
Following the collision with the stationary vehicle, the dumper also struck a motorcycle parked nearby. The deceased have been identified as Arun, son of Kaushal Jatav; Guddi, wife of Kaushal Jatav; Pradyumna, son of Kashiram Jatav; Hemlata, wife of Pradyumna Jatav; and Rajkumari, daughter of Mahipal Jatav, all of whom were close relatives.
In the aftermath of the accident, a traffic congestion occurred as agitated family members and local residents blocked the road, prompting police intervention.
The Chief Minister expressed his deep sorrow on social media, labeling the untimely loss of lives in this horrendous accident as tragic. He extended his condolences to the mourning families and directed the district administration to ensure proper treatment for the seriously injured.
Local sources indicate that villagers have staged protests due to frequent accidents on this highway, attributed to its narrow design and heavy traffic. Despite long-standing appeals for road expansion, no changes have been made, leading to community unrest.
